The Top 10 Notable Shortest Players in NBA History

Earl-Boykins-Milwaukee-Bucks-v-Los-AngelesThis is a list of the top ten basketball players who can really play the game.  The average height of a US adult male is just under 5′ 10″ so that was our cut off.  If you are under 5′  10″ you are ‘below average’ and that makes you insanely short for the NBA which in 2014 was 6′ 9″.

  1. Earl Boykins – 5′ 5″ – Career NBA stats: 8.9 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 3.2 APG  – Started in 2009 with the Washington Wizards
  2. Spud Webb – 5″ 6″ – Career NBA stats: 9.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 5.3 APG – 12 Years with Hawks, Kings, Timberwolves and the Orlando Magic
  3. Tyrone ‘Muggsy” Bogues – 5’ 3″ – Career NBA stats: 7.7 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 7.6 APG – A real playmaker for the Charlotte Hornets more than scorer

  4. Keith Jennings – 5′ 7″ – Career NBA stats: 6.6 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 3.7 APG – USBL and then the Golden State Warrriors – Drafted by the expansion Toronto Raptors in 1995, he decided to stay in Spain that year.
  5. Isaiah Thomas – 5′ 9″ – Career NBA stats: 15.3 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 4.6 APG – Detroit Pistons legend

  7. Calvin Murphy – 5′ 9″ – Career NBA stats: 17.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 4.4 APG – In the 1970’s and 80’s with the San Diego then Houston Rockets
  8. Breven Knight – 5′ 10″ – Career NBA stats: 7.3 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 6.1 APG – Cleveland Cavaliers 16th draft pick in 1997 in 2016 he is an analyst for the Memphis Grizzlies

  10. Slater Martin – 5′ 10″ – Career NBA stats: 9.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 4.2 APG – Seven time allstar that ran with the Minneapolis Lakers (yes, that LA Lakers started out in Minneapolis).
